What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the philosophy and practice of Yoga. -International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) Definition

Yoga Therapy seeks to change attitudes and actions that inhibit the natural healing process. The ideal is to develop the mind so that it can lead us on a path to improve the quality of life. -Gary Kraftsow, American Viniyoga Institute

​What does a Yoga Therapy session look like? 
In our initial session, you will fill out an intake form about your health concerns, personal history, and life-style practices. We will discuss what your primary goals are for coming to Yoga Therapy, and I will conduct an evaluation and assessment of your breathing and test to see if you have any musculoskeletal imbalances contributing to any pain or discomfort you may be having. Together, we will create a plan of care that is personalized to you, helping to create more balance, ease and comfort in your life. The primary tools we will use to create more balance may include Postures, Meditation, Breathing, Visualizations and Affirmations.

Yoga Therapy and The Pancha Maya Kosha Model
The Pancha Maya Kosha Model refers to the 5-sheaths of our being: The physical body, energy body, psycho-emotional body, wisdom body, and higher self.  We look at the following to give us a better understanding of how to create more homeostasis in all the sheaths of the body. 
  • Physical body (Anna Maya Kosha) - Physical conditions you've lived with or are living with, that are contributing to an imbalance in the musculoskeletal system of the body, possibly contributing to an imbalance in the other sheaths. 
  • Energy bodyF(Prana Maya Kosha) - How your energy levels and breathing patterns and how that affects your quality of life. 
  • Psycho-emotional body (Mano Maya Kosha) - Identifying stressors, emotions and overall mental health that has affected you past and present. 
  • Wisdom body (Vinjnana Maya Kosha) - How you manage stress, the health of your relationships/community and ways you find joy in your life.
  • Bliss body (Ananda Maya Kosha) - Your spiritual practice, if any, and how that presents in your life. 

Working with me
Through my work with Yoga as Therapy, I see clients that are living with injuries, chronic disease, cancer, anxiety, depression, stress, and those seeking to create more balance in their lives. One of my areas of focus is working with those that have lived with vicarious trauma. Having been affected by vicarious trauma myself in some of the work that I've been blessed to do, I'm passionate about bringing healing to those through a more somatic practice of Yoga Therapy, as I've experienced first hand the accessibility and power it has to shift and heal in a safe space. As a Yoga Teacher, Energy Healer and Yoga Therapist, it is my belief that by tapping into our true nature, we allow ourselves to work through the imbalances that present in our physical, mental and emotional bodies.
