From her experience as a youth counselor, behavioral therapist and yoga teacher, Katie has combined skills to help young people navigate through challenges and empower them to understand their strength and importance in this world. Throughout the past 10yrs, Katie has worked extensively with youth that come from disadvantaged backgrounds in a multitude of settings ranging from working in schools, The Boys and Girls Club, and most recently serving in the U.S. Peace Corps. Her passion has led her to work within developing countries where she helped design and implement a yoga curriculum that fosters personal growth and development through life skills with children and youth living in residential group homes.
Katie currently resides in the Washington DC area and is available to teach youth programs in schools, youth centers and any other environment that serve youth, helping to empower through mindfulness, self-compassion and yoga.
Since the very first time I started working with children and youth over
10years ago, I was changed. There was a spark that lit up in me that let me know, this was my soul's work. Throughout the years I've discovered the innate brilliance, love and passion young people have for life and that many times, in many situations, young people haven't had this part of themselves nurtured. They haven't had the chance to be empowered and in turn, empower themselves to be their best versions of themselves. I believe if we take the time to teach and nurture these significant aspects of our children, we will all benefit and continually help create a world full of people empowering each other.
If you're seeking a program for the children and youth in your life, please contact Katie at firstname.lastname@example.org and she'll work together with you to help create something that suites your environment.
